What are venous diseases?

Have you ever noticed a conspicuous web-like vein in your legs or arms? These may be spider veins, one of many types of venous disease. Venous disease is a condition in which the veins have problems sending blood from the legs back to the heart. The veins become weakened, diseased or abnormal.

With ineffective closing of the valves inside the veins, blood can leak backward or flow in both directions. Malfunctioning of the valves, blood clots, patient age, family history, obesity and pregnancy are some causes of this discomforting disease. The symptoms include leg swelling, redness, itching and pain.

At Northeast Houston Vein Center, our veteran vein specialists offer the most comprehensive treatment using modern techniques and state-of-the-art equipment in the greater Houston area. Since the establishment of our center in 1978, our qualified medical experts have been committed to providing the best to our patients. Our treatment options are all minimally invasive, and our outpatient procedures allow patients to resume normal activities the same day.
